Engineering and machining services for historical automobiles
Here we offer you a further flavour of the wide ranging restoration projects undertaken in our workshops.

The Type 41 Bugatti Royale
Perhaps our ultimate project was the bringing together and assembly of all mechanical components for Mr. Tom Wheatcroft's replica of the massive Type 41 Bugatti Royale, and faithfully recreating its original Coupe Napoleon coachwork in every conceivable aspect of construction, style and finish. Ash frame The sweeping curves of the Napoleon coachwork are faithfully rendered in a hand crafted ash frame.

Wooden wing formMetal wing After meticulous research and construction of an accurate wooden form, a wing can be shaped in metal.

Chassis Completed body panels, and the instantly recognisable Bugatti radiator shell, are test fitted to the chassis. Other wooden wing forms can be seen in the background.

Running gear With the bodywork in an early stage of painting, work proceeds with the remainder of the running gear, trim and upholstery.

The completed Type 41 is taken out for a test run on a cold Winter's day. Test run
